Mark Zuckerberg was apologizing to congress because he did not do enough to prevent Facebook from being used to do more harm than good, including fake news, hate speech, foreign interference in elections, etc.
ReplyDeleteZuckerberg apologizes because Facebook did not do enough to prevent its platform from being used to harm, and that applies to "false news, foreign interference in elections and hate speech, as well as developers and data privacy."
ReplyDeleteMark Zuckerberg made his appearance in front of Congress apologizing the misinformation that is spread out in his platform, and that he will change his platform for good, preventing people to use Facebook for positive purposes.
ReplyDeleteAll I interpreted from this was he's apologizing for how much harm he caused from his website like the fake news, hate speech, Russian hackers influencing the election, etc. and honestly what the heck
ReplyDeleteHe was apologizing for his lack of control over his website and how he should have prevented it being used for anything malicious.
ReplyDeleteSomething about the spread of false information and to correct this he will change the functions of the site.
ReplyDeleteBecause he knows he messed up and that people know about it.
ReplyDeleteZuckerberg apologized for Facebook spreading "Fake News". And that it may be responsible for the Russian interference.
ReplyDeleteHe's apologizing for Facebook's privacy issues and how "fake news" was released, and how Foreign's used Facebook as a platform to interfere with elections.
ReplyDeleteZuck is apologizing for info leaks and false info spreading over the Facebook platform.
ReplyDeleteTheory:The Earth Is Flat!

ReplyDeleteHe is apologizing because false information is being leaked
ReplyDeletehe is apologizing for fake news and harmful content but honestly its hard to filter everything on the site since millions use it. I don't think he should apologize because social media is social media.
ReplyDeleteHe apologizing for the fake news, leaks, and false info that spread on Facebook and everyone believed it. He made a mistake and he didn't mean it.
ReplyDeleteHe is apologizing for the people that put stuff like fake news and hate speeches. I think that he should apologize for them because it is one of the biggest platforms out there and the codes of conduct should be more strict.
ReplyDeleteHes apologizing for allowing companies to farm data from its users. I think he should be apologizing but idk what congress has to do about anything and idk why he feels the need to apologize to them. There was a part were they talked about facebook repeatedly denying it was responsible for what its users posted. They simply update and create new features they dont need to be worrying about what people are posting, the people posting should be held accountable not facebook (same goes to youtube)
ReplyDeleteHe is apologizing about the misinterpreted information that people are giving on the website and about the privacy practices.
ReplyDeleteThe article explains how Zuckerberg understands that Facebook did not have enough precautions for privacy and security and plans to work hard to prevent further information-sharing situations. I believe that maintaining and protecting user data is important for Facebook in its future as well as protecting users from false information and hate speech.
ReplyDeleteMark Zuckerberg was apologizing to Congress because facebook has not been used for what it was created for which is expressing whats in your mind or sharing things with friends or conecting with family and friends. Facebook has been used for "fake news, foreign interference in elections, and hate speech, as well as developers and data privacy" as said in the article. Zuckerberg stated "We didn't take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake. It was my mistake, and I'm sorry".
